500,000,000 to 1

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

The evidence of 500,000,000 to 1 is beautiful!

As we consider the events of the past, are there some that we dealt with only by the grace of God? Were there other events that were so full of the joy of His salvation, we had to stop to praise Him? Are there some events we are still going through? Are we perhaps wondering if we can strengthen our belief in ourselves that we will be able to handle everything?

Actually, we just need to strengthen our belief in God. We need to believe that He knows us so well, He will do all He can to help us to be wise, to persevere, and to step through whatever is challenging us. We just need to ask for His help.

How can I be so sure?

When our parents came together, half a billion tiny male reproductive cells (sperm) had the same mission: to penetrate one female ovum (egg). Only one of those sperm could make you … you! Any other reproductive cell combination would have produced someone else.

Biologists on the campus of Andrew’s University (Michigan) assure us this is a true biological fact: God chose to create us out of the 500,000,000 choices He had with one tiny female ovum.

What care He took to make certain that He created us just right. It's why He reminds us that He counts the hairs on our heads and sees the little sparrow fall. Our God is detail oriented. He leaves nothing to chance. Imagine how He watched to ensure that the tiny sperm containing half of our DNA made it to the one tiny ovum that contained the other half of our DNA.

What impact would strengthening our belief in God have on the situations we are in now? The events completed this past week? What the future holds for us?

If God took such care to ensure that we would be conceived and born, doesn’t it stand to reason that He will keep every promise He made to us in His word?

Isn’t this why Moses could stand beside the Red Sea and declare to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:13,14)

Can we see evidence that the Lord is fighting for us in our lives? If not, perhaps it’s because we have not surrendered all to Him. Perhaps we are still trying to do things our way, still relying on ourselves.

As we champion the truth and seek to live it, let’s begin with these questions: Do I want to strengthen my belief in God? If the answer is yes, how will I go about doing that?

If you said “yes”, and you would like me to pray for you, please send me an email at define@takingthenextstep.ca and write the word 'Yes” in the subject line.

May God bless us all as we seek Him. Amen.
